WHO WE ARE

The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (SMBC) is a family, adopted by God (Gal. 4:6-7; Eph. 1:5).  From Him we receive the privilege to worship Jesus together, serve in His Kingdom, and be His children.  We care and, pray for each other, and serve together.

Guests are always welcome within our household.  For those interested in transitioning from guest to member, the Class 101 and 201 have been established as a part of your membership process.  Your participation in these classes allow you to learn more about SMBC,  while  providing us with the opportunity to get to know you better.  After completing Class 101 and 201, you will be enrolled into Discipleship Training Program.

The leadership of SMBC continually strives to love and adequately care for all  its members (Eph. 4:11-12; Gal. 6:10).  In turn, we rely on our members to accomplish our collective work,  as a body of Christ (Eph. 2:10).  As an organization, we operate with minimal staff, budget, and programming.  We trust the Holy Spirit to move through the transformed hearts of our members, mobilizing the collective body of Christ in humble ways to love the city of Warrensburg, love our family, and glorify God on His terms.

For members, the call is demanding (Mark 8:34-35), and opposition is great (1 Peter 5:8);  but Christ is ever present, with us (Matt. 28:20).

Vision Statement

"To be an authentic biblical Church strengthened through Jesus Christ with ministries focusing on building and operating Christ's state-of-the-art Spiritual Hospital located in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Crossing all lines to provide spiritual care that reaches all people with the saving, delivering, and healing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Mission Statement

"To disciple the members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church so they are equipped to impact individuals, families, and communities from the Kingdom of God perspective."

There are Four Vital Experiences at SMBC:

Worship:  A church that celebrates the glory of God

Fellowship:  A church where no one stands alone

Education:  A church that teaches the knowledge and application of God's Word

Outreach:  A church that spreads the Good News of Christ in word and deed

Our Core Values

We value Bible-centered preaching / teaching

We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant, immutable, authoritative Word of God.  We strive, therefore, to preach and teach the Bible as God’s Word and the trustworthy rule for belief and behavior (2 Timothy 3:16-4:2).

We value servant leadership

We believe that church leaders are, above all, servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We give ourselves to the highest good for our brothers and sisters in Christ and the community.  We also recognize that servant leaders are to watch over our souls and that spirit-filled, godly pastors are an invaluable asset of the church
(Matthew 20:25-28; Hebrews 13:17).

We value people and community

We recognize the eternal value that God places on every person and commit ourselves to love and care for others, as beings created in His image.  We seek to fulfill Christ’s great commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to love one another as Christ loves us.  Community is the product of people resolving to love and serve everyone around them (Mark 12:31; John 13:34-35).

We value Christian education for all ages

We believe that understanding scripture acts as a catalyst for the transformation, growth, and enhancement of our lives.  Therefore, we are committed to the ministry of Christian Education as an indispensable, foundational ministry that must undergird all other ministries of the church (2 Timothy 3:14-17; Psalms 1:1-6, 119:1-16; Nehemiah 8:8).

We value financial responsibility

We believe that believers are stewards of God’s resources.  Stewardship describes the response of Christians to God’s gracious gifts.  While biblical stewardship is broader than the practice of giving money to the church, much of Jesus’ teachings and the example of the early church suggest financial responsibility is an important element of stewardship.  We recognize that giving may be one of the most tangible expressions of our faith.  We believe Christians should give generously, consistently, and proportionately (according to what God  has entrusted you with) to the local church. Through our giving we are used, as God’s instrument to continue His earthly ministry  (Malachi 3:10; Luke 16:1-14; 19:11-27; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

We value strong families

We are committed to supporting the development and nurturing of the family, which we see as the basic social unit of society.  The family serves as a foundational institution, established by God, through a man and a woman, in order for faith to be nurtured through parental example and teaching (Ephesians 5:21-33; Colossians 3:18-21).

We value evangelism

We believe that Christ demonstrated His great love for the lost, and has commissioned His church to follow His example of pursuing, winning, and making disciples of all men (Luke 19:10; John 20:21; 2 Corinthians 5:14-20).

We value Christian discipleship

We believe that Christ’s command to “make disciples” is the mission of the church.  Our primary goal is to equip the church for this work and fulfill this commission of developing mature followers of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:12).

We value fellowship

We recognize that God expects us to take time to develop personal relationships. He expects us to become involved in each other’s lives, to recognize needs, and to seek to meet those needs both spiritual and practical. Cultivating Biblical fellowship is just as critical as any other purpose of the church ( Acts 2:42).

We value encouragement

We recognize that living out our Christian beliefs is incredibly challenging. In fact it would be virtually impossible if we tried to accomplish it on our own. We must have the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit and the positive reinforcement that only fellow believers can give (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

We value giftedness

We recognize that God has gifted every believer, and expects us to use our gift(s) to serve Him and each other. Until we discover our areas of giftedness, and begin to develop them through service, we can never reach our potential in Christ as individuals or collectively as a Church (1 Peter 4:10).

 We value commitment

We recognize that in many ways our society has lost touch with the true meaning of commitment. We also understand, however, that as believers we are expected to persevere in three critical areas (Hebrews 12:1-3):

·       Our commitment to Christ

·       Our commitment to the Body of Christ

·       Our commitment to the Work of Christ
